Hawaii sues 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' business for $35,000

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii's attorney general says "Dog the Bounty Hunter" reality TV star Duane "Dog" Chapman's bail bonds business owes the state $35,000.

Attorney General Doug Chin says Wednesday his office is suing Da Kine Bail Bonds for money it promised to pay when the company's clients skipped court.

Chapman's publicist says she's working on releasing a statement on his behalf.

The state's lawsuit also names Safety National Casualty Corporation as a defendant. According to the state, the company is the surety obligated to pay if Da Kine defaults. Company officials didn't immediately return an after-hours phone message seeking comment.
