How GA is suppressing the Runoff vote.

Early Voting is M-F 9a-5p. No weekend voting. Counties can switch hours to 7a-7p but it is up to each county. EV starts 11-28.

5. You cannot be penalized at work to vote

Your employer cannot punish you if you ask to leave work to vote.
That, plus, if you are in line by 5:00PM, they must allow you to vote. Even in early voting.

The Democrats need to get this out to all their voters.

9. Even if you don't get 'punished', I assume you don't get 'paid', either.

If you're in line on election day at 7 PM, the poll officials are required to let you vote. After 7 PM, you will not be allowed to vote. Same rule applies to Advanced In Person (aka Early Voting).

However, if you're not in your assigned precinct, things change. Before 5 PM, you'll be directed to go to your assigned precinct, and we will provide you with that address. After 5 PM, you'll be allowed to vote using a provisional out of precinct ballot (OP). A provisional ballot will probably have to be cured (I don't have the instruction letter in front of me), requiring a trip to Elections headquarters. Thankfully there's only one race, so an OP ballot will be identical at any precinct.

Also, if you did not vote on November 8, you can vote on December 6, as long as you're a registered voter.

6. We've had record turnout in both the primaries & the general election.

In many areas, Saturday voting actually had lower turnout than weekly voting. But I'm sure there will be a falloff for the runoff; there usually is. the only fear is that now that we know the control of the Senate doesn't ride on this race, some DEMOCRATS will take a pass.

It hasn't been that long ago that we only had ONE day to vote. There's no reason not to vote THIS time if you voted back then

13. Raphael Warnock sues Georgia over early voting restrictions for runoff

Kemp and the Georgia vote suppressors shorten the time for run offs to try to suppress the vote by denying sufficient time for early voting. Here this law is cutting off weekend voting.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/nov/15/raphael-warnock-sues-georgia-early-voting-restrictions
Raphael Warnock’s campaign sued Georgia on Tuesday after the state said it would not offer Saturday early voting for the closely watched runoff in which Warnock is seeking re-election to the US Senate.

The suit challenges the state’s interpretation of a law that would prohibit early voting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving is also a state holiday in Georgia, originally to commemorate Robert E Lee, the Confederate civil war general. In 2015, state officials dropped Lee’s name and started recognizing the day simply as a “state holiday”.

Lawyers for Warnock’s campaign argued that the voting prohibition only applies to primary and general elections, not runoffs, which have a much shorter voting period. Last year, Georgia Republicans passed a law shortening the runoff period from nine weeks to four. But the shortened runoff period is coming into conflict with the state law that bars early voting around holidays.

he state “misreads” and “cherry-picks” provisions of the law that do not apply to runoffs, lawyers for Warnock’s campaign wrote in a complaint, which was joined by the Georgia Democratic party and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “The secretary’s insistence that counties may not hold advance voting on November 26 therefore has no support in the law and conflicts with [the statute’s] requirement that counties begin advance voting for the December 6 runoff as soon as possible,” it reads.

The suit asks a judge to declare that state law does not prohibit counties from offering early voting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and to order the state not to take any action blocking them from doing so
