Democrats add GOP target in Florida amid recent wins, redistricting

Florida Democrats have lashed out at Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republican lawmakers for answering President Trump’s call to redraw congressional districts to help the GOP win more seats in next year’s midterm elections.

But Democrats now think there might be an upside to redistricting.

Recent election results show voters appear ready for a change and redistricting could weaken some Republican-held seats.

The result: Maybe some surprise Democrat victories in November.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently added the Tampa-area seat held by U.S. Rep. Laurel Lee, a Republican, as a target for takeover next year.
