Escambia County reduces early voting sites before special election to save taxpayer money

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The special election to replace Matt Gatez’s seat in Congress is just a few weeks away.

Some Escambia County voters who plan to vote early may have to find a different polling place to cast their ballot. Early voting will be open for eight days starting Jan. 18.

Elections Supervisor Robert Bender says there will be fewer voting sites.

It's a decision that will save the county about $17,000. Bender says the goal is to save taxpayer money, while also running a smooth election.
