Former Hillsborough GOP treasurer arrested for stealing money from party, deputies say

The Hillsborough County Republican Party’s former treasurer has been arrested for stealing money from the party, deputies said.

Deputies arrested Patrick Karry Bailey, 50, on Thursday after investigators determined he wrote himself checks from the party’s account and electronically transferred funds to his personal bank account, according to a news release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Bailey took $14,400 from the party’s account, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bailey was arrested at his Brandon home and booked into jail on charges of grand theft and making false entries in the books of a business entity. He was released Friday after posting $5,000 bail, records show.
