Florida Marijuana Legalization Campaign Raises $100 Million, Fueled By Big Cannabis

The political committee spearheading the drive to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida, Smart & Safe Florida, has amassed a staggering $100 million in funding since its formation in 2022. This includes a recent influx of over $6 million raised in just one week.

The majority of the funding has come from major cannabis companies, with Trulieve contributing a whopping $92.77 million and Curaleaf adding another $1 million in the recent reporting period.

The proposed constitutional amendment, listed as Amendment 3 on the November ballot, would allow adults 21 and older to possess, purchase, and use marijuana for non-medical purposes.

This follows the 2016 legalization of medical marijuana in the state.

With substantial financial backing and a growing national trend towards legalization, the campaign to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida is gaining significant momentum.
