D.C.-area forecast: Staying cold with a touch of light snow possible late tonight into early Monday

10:30 a.m. update: We continue to watch the chance of flurries or even some light snow late tonight into early Monday. The forecast below has been updated to reflect the possibility of a dusting to a half-inch, mainly as you head south and southeast of the Beltway.

Our weather continues to look nicer than it feels outside, not only today, but through the first part of the workweek, with above-average sunshine but below-average temperatures. The only “action” for us is the chance of flurries or light snow late tonight into early tomorrow morning, mainly south and southeast of D.C. High pressure then takes over again, keeping us dry and cool through midweek.
. . .Tonight: A storm system to our south starts to cloud up our skies late this evening and overnight. Temperatures still manage to cool quickly despite the increasing clouds, with lows dropping to the upper 20s and low 30s. Some flurries or light snow is possible after 3 a.m. or so, especially south and southeast of D.C. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Monday): The storm system slides by to our south and out to sea. But the chance of flurries or light snow continues until 10 a.m. or so. Can’t rule out a light accumulation of a dusting to half-inch, mainly as you head south and southeast of the Beltway. Skies then turn partly sunny as morning temperatures rise into and through the 30s, with continued chilly afternoon highs only reaching the low 40s.
