Voter ID glitch a hiccup in Denver schools special election

A technical glitch with the voter identification and check-in software used by the Bremer County Board of Elections caused a slight delay in voting of about an hour on Tuesday, March 4, during the in-person voting for a Denver Community School District special election.

Shelley Wolf, Bremer County auditor and commissioner of elections, stressed that the glitch with the Tenex Poll Pad devices had no impact nor affect on the voting or tabulation of ballots.

“The ballots and the vote tabulator were not affected,” Wolf said in a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon. “It was just the voter check-in that was affected.”

The Tuesday special election was for the DCSD Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, which will determine whether the district will renew an existing tax that provides approximately $350,000 annually for school infrastructure, technology, security and transportation.
