Yes, John was out camping near Aspen with friends watching for the meteor showers when he was inspired to write Rocky Mountain High--far more so than any drug (pot) inspiration. Boy, I miss him still. Perhaps it is time to have a week of Denver music. Every time I hear a commercial using his music (right now, it is "Thank God, I'm a Country Boy" ), I get so wistful.

in Colorado died recently. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and always helped others in so many ways. He had climbed all the fourteeners, camped, biked, hiked and ran the Bolder Boulder every year into his 90s. His children and grandchildren had a great celebration service to remember him and they played, and we all sang Rocky Mountain High and Denver songs he always enjoyed so much.
