SF: Lurie aims for a big November with four major ballot measures likely

Though he wasn’t a candidate in this month’s primary election, Mayor Daniel Lurie is credited with a major win, with the two supervisors he endorsed prevailing in landslides and multiple measures he endorsed or opposed rising or falling accordingly.

A test likely looms in November, when voters could face four ballot measures Lurie is championing — one for a parcel tax to fund public transit and three that would significantly reform the mechanics of city government, including by making it harder to qualify ballot measures and by giving the mayor more power to hire and fire department heads.

And Lurie is going to vigorously crusade for all four, campaign spokesperson Max Szabo said.

“He’s just warming up,” Szabo said of the mayor. “He’s going to be campaigning for these in a very big way.”
