Apres Swallwell, who leads?

Here’s who Eric Swalwell’s supporters in the governor’s race are likely to back now

Porter (39%) is the top second choice of Swalwell voters, and Steyer a distant second (15%), according to a UC Berkeley Citrin Center/Politico poll.

More will be known when the next tracking poll commissioned by the California Democratic Party is released next week. That survey, which is going into the field this week, should capture where voters have moved since the Chronicle published the blockbuster allegations that Swalwell sexually assaulted a former staffer.

HOWEVER

Surprise! They are all claiming big endorsements and contributions.

My suspicion is that labor endorsements will help create a front-runner.

Swalwell’s major labor endorsements may be up for grabs again, too. The board of the 310,000-member California Teachers Association, which rescinded its endorsement in the wake of the Chronicle story, is meeting Tuesday about its next steps. The board of the 750,000-member Service Employees International Union could revisit its (Swallwell) endorsement, too. The union conducted evaluations of all the top candidates over the past several months, so it likely wouldn’t need to re-interview anyone. But it has no meetings planned yet.

Dems had better coalesce. IMO, too many egos and dollars soaring.

Of course, the irony is that anyone so public-spirited as to drop out, probably deserves the position the most.

But we live in an evil world where no good deed goes unpunished.

DO WE REALLY WANT THIS?
Come on, Teacher's Union and SEIU.
Help!
