Study ranks Little Rock metro ranks #1 as most overweight and obese US city

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – While the Little Rock-North Little Rock metropolitan area ranks high in several categories, it can now add “Most Overweight and Obese City in the U.S.” as another high ranking.

The consumer finance site WalletHub assigned this ranking after a 2026 study of 100 metropolitan areas gave the Little Rock metro a score of 83.96. In 2025, Little Rock ranked second in the same study, with a total score of 83.82, behind McAllen, Texas.

The score was divided into three categories, giving the Little Rock metro an overweight and obesity rate of 3, a health consequence rank of 5, and a food and fitness rank of 3.
