Related: About this forumMy school district on the TON Reservation is shut down for two weeks
We had cases of COVID in the one of the elementary schools and with the dynamics of families out here, the Superintendent closed all sites to in-person learning for two weeks as people quarantine.
My students are unhappy, I am too, but it is what it is.
But because I teach on a Native American reservation, the edicts from Gov. Butter Pecan don't apply.
Masks are required everywhere in public on the TON. Teachers, admin, and students are required to wear. The only place they can be taken off is on the athletic fields, like when I assistant coach for football.
With the Delta variant and people fighting battles over vaccines and masks, we are never going to go back to normal.
Thanks for turning medicine and science into a political issue, TFG.

(1,120 posts)I sincerely hope you and your students are able to safely continue the learning process.
Sadly (because I am not well informed) I searched for the TON Reservation and found it to be the Tohono O'odnam Nation, identified as the second largest Indigenous land holding in the United States. Thank you for helping me to learn today, what I should have known yesterday.
I also had to research "Gov. Butter Pecan" where I found your Governor of Arizona (doug ducey) who was the former CEO of Cold Stone Creamery (based in Scottsdale, Arizona)...thus, I enjoyed your most-cute reference!
Side Note:
I visited a Cold Stone store (once), but never purchased anything because I don't want folks 'playing' with my food.
