The Weather Channel has been removed from our cable - Why?

When we discovered that The Weather Channel was being eliminated from our cable TV supplier, I emailed them to ask not to remove it.
They sent me the following reply: "I do apologize for the inconvenience, but we have no control over which networks decide to stay or leave the lineup. The lineup is created and assembled by the networks themselves – we simply provide the signal to the given networks."

I don't understand this. Are they saying that TWC chose to remove themselves from our cable? Why would they do that? That makes no sense to me. Is there someone on DU who can explain the workings of "networks" and cable TV? Why can I no longer see TWC?

The Weather Channel (owned by Byron Allen) and Comcast especially have been going at it for years. Each station on a cable package costs about 5 cents per customer if memory serves. TWC won’t give in to Cable companies wanting it for less.

So, our cable company raises their prices every year, but doesn't want to pay TWC what they're asking. Our cable co. is charging us for a lot of other channels which we never watch. Do away with them and pay TWC. Nothing I can do about it.

9. They use adding channels as a reason to up-price your bill

Until 15 years ago you don’t have any other option.
I think TWC is banking on the app route.

TWC is fighting the waves. Weather is available in many ways.

Replaced by another weather network.
It will take time to get used to another format, etc.

It had this crawl at the bottom of the screen:

The Weather Channel is Americas #1 Weather Network. Trusted. Reliable. Accurate.

When available, I suppose one could add.
