...Because they can run across water for significant distances before sinking due to the large surface area of their feet.

and when you live where they are in the wild, you get to see it all the time. they run across the tops of my streams and ponds all the time.

At about 50 seconds in the critter starts across the water. Nat Geo calls it the Jesus Christ lizard. 🦎🦎
