Startled one in it's nest and it startled me as it took to flight. Largest wing span I've ever seen.

The population of Whooping cranes reached a low of around 12 about two decades ago. I'm happy to report that this year I again got photos of proud Whooper parents with a beautiful colt (young Whooper). I'll post those pics in a day or few.

It's 5:30 AM CST and I'm headed back out on the water for a full day of shooting. I don't get much time for photo processing until I get back home to SC next weekend. But I do try to get at least one photo ready every day.
