I had a dear friend in her 90s who created entire sets of painted porcelain dishes for her granddaughters. She's gone now, but I have a signed piece that I treasure.

I have been away from DU for a while. It is good to be back.

For one thing, it's beautiful, and for another, it's environmentally responsible to use it. I hear so many stories of kids who don't want their heirloom dishes, but really, it's thrifty and good for the planet to take them.
