Yesterday's (Feb. 12) full moon was the Snow Moon. Tonight's moon phase is waning gibbous.

(153,451 posts)What an incredible photo! I think that it's the fact that it's waning gibbous that it looks like a sphere.
That dark crater at the top is one that I've been lucky enough to photograph numerous times. You've caught it magnificently!
The whole photo is simply brilliant.

(6,067 posts)Chilly winds made shooting a challenge tonight. The wind rocked my tripod and I had to carefully stabilize it with my right hand while manually focusing and operating the remote shutter release with my left.
I've lately been using a little trick when shooting the moon. I set the aperture at f11 and the ISO and shutter speed at 100 and 1/100, respectively.

Not good observing.
