The Moon, Jupiter and Aldebaran tonight

Aldebaran is a giant star in the constellation Taurus. The starburst around the moon is a cool effect made by my camera lens's aperture blades and the aperture setting I used, f11.

I got home approx. 6:30 pm and noticed the bright object just off to the right of the bright moon as I was on the road. I’m afraid I did not see Jupiter until I actually was out of my car and in my driveway.

Thanks so much for the photo and for identifying these objects, Mousetoescamper! It’s always cool to know what you’re seeing.

I've been using the live maps at the "Time and Date" site (timeanddate.com) to identify and locate objects in the night sky. The site is easy to use and I don't have to scroll through unnecessary text and graphics to find the when and where of an object. Go to the site, click the "Sun, Moon & Space" button, find what you're seeking on the pulldown menu, and plug in your general location. There are also useful articles on upcoming celestial events.

From the site's "About" page:

Time and Date AS is based just outside Stavanger, Norway, where our teams work together to operate timeanddate.com, the world's top-ranking website for time and time zones. With free online services you can rely on, we make it easier to organize your life, both at work and at home.

I guess Ohio isn’t important enough for the drone invasion.

I frequently see satellites and occasionally the International Space Station passing overhead when I'm out under the stars.

I love the grainy texture and backlit clouds. You should also post it in Photography. You'll get many more views there and it deserves to be seen.
