Related: About this forumMy pix from Wednesday's BEAT show (King Crimson's Belew & Levin + Vai & Carey)
I hope you enjoy my photos of Wednesday nights (10/23) BEAT show at The Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading, PA. Im not going to comment on the bands performance but will say that I enjoyed the show, the energy and mutual love between the band and the audience, and hearing some my favorite music of a lifetime performed live.
The BEAT ensemble includes former King Crimson members Adrian Belew and Tony Levin along with guitarist Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey. The group played music from King Crimsons three iconic 80s albums Discipline, Beat, and Three Of A Perfect Pair.
Acknowledging King Crimsons leader Robert Fripp, drummer Bill Bruford and bassist/vocalist John Wetton (deceased), the group also played Red, from the KC album Red, recorded by Fripp, Bruford and Wetton in 1974.
Please note that these are cellphone photos. I was left of center and seven rows back from the stage (a great seat!) but even at that short distance my phone camera was low resolution. During the intermission I went to the front of the stage to get some photos of the bands gear. Youll notice the difference in quality. What I wouldnt give to have had my camera; but, alas, cameras with removable lenses were prohibited.

(152,451 posts)I can definitely tell the difference between the close-up photos and the distance one, but hey, you worked with what you had, and you did well!

(35,162 posts)but dont get to go to as many as I like. Your photos definitely show off the talent and cameraderie of the musicians. Bet it was a great show!
Speaking of King Crimson I saw Carl Palmer and two other musicians re-creating ELP music a couple years ago. Small venue and it was fabulous, too.

(5,499 posts)The ticket to this event was $200 plus fees. With parking and a meal the cost was well over 300. No regrets, but I probably won't be attending anything but free shows for a while.

(5,499 posts)I'd like to view the show. What's another $25 when you've already shelled out more than $200 for a ticket.
