All of these are wonderful, but my special favorite is the 4th one.

The branches are just barely covered with snow to the point that you can see the black underneath. I love this effect.

And the little bird is great!

Bundled up in my snowsuit and sent out to play with the neighborhood kids.
Back inside with hats and mittens drying on the radiator, boots drying on old newspapers by the door.
Chicken noodle soup with saltines, or maybe those little oyster crackers.

My sisters drank hot chocolate, but despite my love of chocolate I have never liked chocolate milk or chocolate ice cream or hot chocolate. I would drink a cup of Constant Comment tea, or mom’s “Russian Tea” which was Tang powder, sugar, powdered instant tea with lemon, and cinnamon. 2 spoons of Russian tea mix in a cup of tea~kettle~whistling hot water. I am the oldest of 3 sisters and drinking tea made me feel grown up, even in 4th grade.

Lots of chickadees around here, too. I also have crows who will caw me and a little wren who sings from the kitchen porch any mornings Molly and I don’t get out to serve the early-bird breakfast special soon enough to suit them.

Spent 30-some years “in exile” on the FloraBama Gulf Coast. Heat and humidity turn me into a slug. I have a winter soul. Cold weather brings me back to life, all a~sparkle and a~twinkle. It’s beginning to look a lot like winter, and I’m just fine with that.

Thank you again for this lovely preview of snow to come. Some of the old folks around here say we’re in for a snowy winter this year. After a dry summer and fall, I’ll take all the snow I can get!

I remember as a kid spending hours outside in the snow.
We had a icerink in our back yard. It was there for at least 3 months. Getting to skate aroiund Ottawa on the Rideau canal which was mostly drained for the winter. l only remember one snow day. The teachers couldn't get to school. We were all there waiting.
Parents would drag us in before hypothermia.
Then we moved to teh Phoenix area..... freezer to oven.
