Related: About this forumStrahov Monastery Library - Prague, Czech Republic
The monastery library holds books that are more than 500 years old. When you see a white binding, that's a book bound in pigskin.

Plus, the monastery makes their own bread and brews their own beer. So don't skip a visit to their restaurant as well.

Food for thought for the ages, along with transcendent beauty.
Thank you for allowing us this glimpse into a very different world.

photos. Would have loved to walk down the aisles.

(44,109 posts)7. We were privileged to hire a guide with access to the library
So we did get to walk through it from end to end. You need to hire a registered guide and pay an additional fee, but it's pretty reasonable.
However I did have to stand by the doorway to take the shot.
