...they range north into southern texas and are the largest tree frog in the US....here in costa rica, they are not the largest, though. let's see if anyone can guess the species:

the scientific community reclassified all the american (as in new world) bufos (bufo is a genus of toads....you might be talking specifically of the cane toads which used to be classified as bufo marinus), so there are no more bufos in the americas. the frog in my photo is not a toad, so it was never classified as a bufo.
the cane toad, previously Bufo marinus, is now Rhinella marina. here's a shot of one i took recently:
