Years ago our daughter's magical kitty Kimani disappeared for TWO WEEKS! I kept her home from school and we walked grids looking for that cat.

Sure enough, after 2 weeks, our neighbor noticed that he seemed to have 2 identical cats in his herd - where he previously had only one like that. Yep. It was Kimani! Living under his porch waiting for us to come get her!!

was blissful!

That kitty meant so much to us! Sadly she disappeared permanently right as our daughter was graduating HS.

She was a cat who would ride in the stroller or bike basket down the driveway; sit inside the dollhouse; tolerate costumes!

One in a million.

for dear Kimani!

My wife's cat disappeared a few years back. Panic, tears, yelling. Printed posters and offered reward. Spent days looking around the neighborhood talking to people I never met, "Have you seen this cat?". Tramped thru the nearby wood yelling her name. Then we more or less accepted she was lost - our poor little calico.

Then sitting on the front porch three weeks later talking about her the damn cat strolled up the porch steps, hopped up on the railing and started to clean herself.

Of course we were elated, but - I'll be honest - a bit pissed too at her "so what" attitude,

I always told everyone she was my pet but the reality was that I was just a source for food and rubs behind the ears. She came and went as she please once for almost 2 weeks. I didn’t have the heart to make her an “indoor” cat so that wouldn’t happen, she was always an outdoor indoor cat. Had her company for little over 10yrs until she got ill. ….I miss her.

My parents had a cat disappear once. She didn't normally go out, but that day she snuck out. My parents searched the neighborhood and asked everyone, but she was nowhere to be found. About 3 years later, they were at a progressive dinner. During the dessert course, they went to a house and there was the cat! My dad said, "Hey, that's my cat!" The cat came over to him and purred, obviously recognizing him. The people happily gave her back.

I'm sort of thinking kitty got lost and scared and then some people recognized that she was special and took her home. She was a purebred frost point siamese, not the kind of cat you'd normally find wandering around. Anyway, I never heard that part of the story.

So glad your kitty came back.

Had a couple of cats over the years go AWOL for a time. One came home okay, the other had a broken leg that our vet did a stellar job repairing. The two dumps we took in late 21/spring 22 DO NOT go outside. Sure, they (especially the female) want to kill the taunting chipmunk or two but otherwise are very happy to be inside tigers. Face it, all felines are stinkers that have us wrapped around their little claw.
