Related: About this forumThis Amp sim technology today is amazing.
Im lonely 20 left to get grandma was jamming on this amp simulator.
In comparing tone to twin silver face or a Bassman its close and i come from generation of all tube no analog.
And in no way am i trying to come across as authority on this amp sim as Ive played some of these amps in person.
Yet or the pedal selection they offer example old style tape echo or the Marshall amps yet the one series i enjoy and tweak with tone volume pots is what they call Dumble tone.
Never played through actual original only a Dumble clone and truly Ill say its not specifically amp it is the guitarist that creates his or her own tone Robben Ford or even Bonamassa.
This morning Im well was using a single cut with some P-90 humbuckers then a knock off chinese tele with some 50s wiring and old style pickups friend mine winds and it is just tonal bliss.

(1,232 posts)I have a Roland Jazz Chorus. But recently I needed something smaller to tote to solo gigs than an amp and PA. I got a Fishman Loudbox Performer, which can be used as a PA.
That is ok for acoustic electrics, but I mostly play electric guitars - old Fender Jazzmaster, Gretsch hollow body, various superstrats, etc... and they sound like weak sauce through the Fishman.
My Sweetwater rep suggested the UAD Dream 65 Reverb. It is a pedal that duplicates the sound of a 1965 Fender Reverb Deluxe amp. It has several other options. I have to tell you it is AMAZING! At my last gig I was doing several classic Christmas songs with that clean Hank Garland tone. This little pedal is just unbelievable! It made my Fishman sound as good as my Jazz Chorus. And load in is now super easy.

(1,232 posts)Gretsch G2420T. My Dad had a Chet Atkins Country Gentleman when I was a girl and this is a copy of that. Some complain that with the Broadtron Filter pickups don't give that Gretsch twang - too Gibson like. I LOVE the tone of this guitar. I recently had the regular G2420 without the Bigsby. Then we got to see Brian Setzer live. I had to have the Bigsby 😅 He uses that constantly. If you can't get one at least go play one. They are nice guitars under $500

(1,433 posts)Decades. Took me maybe 10 years to fully utilize the programmable software that came with the unit. The software won't work on a windows 11, so it resides on a laptop that isn't connected to the net. Very happy with the tones & available selections, again that is after years of learning all the possibilities that antique provides. Bought a second J Station off EBay for nothing, as at 71 years old, too old to learn & play with the newer modeling software.

(4,223 posts)Im currently playing in a band with an amazing lead guitarist who primarily plays a Tele through a Bassman. But its what hes done to his guitars and how he utilizes his fingers that make him/it sound so good. Hes using DiMarzio double humbuckers at the neck and Seymour Duncan Hot Rails at the bridge. His tone is to die for and is enhanced by his Nashville style. Its a real pleasure to listen to his mastery of triad chords.
