Oddly, his real passion was Bluegrass music. He considered it to be pure music. tonyt53 Aug 2018 #5
Bluegrass and me don't mix. Crutchez_CuiBono Aug 2018 #7
Hell, I grew up in the county where its founder (Bill Monroe) was from and I can't stand it. tonyt53 Aug 2018 #10
Holy smokes! Banjo is ok, just not a fan of the bluegrass. Crutchez_CuiBono Aug 2018 #11

Frankly, it was the worst concert I've ever seen. They mixed on stage, instead of in the audience. Despite having what they billed as "the largest sound system in the world" (nearly 500 speakers) the sound was awful. The vocals were muddy to the point that they were virtually unintelligible, and really only the drums and bass stood out. We left early; the first and only time I ever walked out on a concert.

Usually not the best idea-on a good day even-to try to cobble together a show...while completely stoned. Tends to throw off what you know. You know?

Was kind of a theme song for my life when I got divorced.....
Was fortunate to have seen them perform it three, maybe four times?
Why can't I remember........

It is all nasal and whiny. My mother-in-law is buried about 75 feet from Monroe in Rosine, KY. I hate country music just as much.

I was in Washington DC and heard on tv around this time in August. I worked with a bunch of deadheads who were grieving Jerry’s passing when I returned to work. I saw the Grateful Dead one New Year’s Eve at the cow palace in SF. Someone gave us 4 free tickets. None of us were deadheads and left at 12:30 am. Just didn’t get to group.
