"Stranger In Blues Suede Shoes". Thank you. Very. Much.

By BritPop musician Kevin Ayers.

When I first heard this rousing party gem back in 1971 it just blew my mind with the story of turning on a bartender to a joint after refusal of service. Much later I had a hard time finding it again because the title is only mentioned once at the beginning.

Also appearing on this single is 18 year old Mike Oldfield on guitar and bass. He would gain his own fame two years later with "Tubular Bells" from the movie "The Exorcist".

It was certainly an underappreciated hit that was relegated to AOR FM stations only, at least in this country.
