I hate it when incredible Tom Waits songs are ruined.

There’s another version on the VH1 Storytellers episode that is really good.

The full audio recording is available, and is really great.

A set of Tom covers that is really fantastic is Come On Up To The House: Women Sing Waits. Courtney Marie Andrew’s version of Downtown Train from that album:


She performed at a pop-up at Wilco’s Solid Sound last year, and she and Jeff Tweedy did a beautiful acoustic version of You and I. Here’s a version from a London Wilco performance with Courtney:
