(24,779 posts)Love her slide work! I also love how she always has these "friends" join with her on stage and how she will join with other groups too. I've seen her twice at NOLA Jazz 7 Heritage Fest and she was the absolute bomb, one of the best~

(24,779 posts)Not nearly the drunken spectacle of Mardi Gras, although there are people who imbibe too much, especially as the day goes one. If you like cajun or zydeco music, check out the Fais Do Do stage, it's our favorite! There's even shade there, a scarce commodity~ Of course the Blues tent and the large stages have excellent music as well. The Jazz tent tended to have more eclectic jazz. It's amazing the talent that plays at the large stages, we've seen Bon Jovi, the Eagles, Jimmy Buffet (rip), Santana, Elton John, Gwen Stefani, Jerry Lee Lewis, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Bonnie Rait, Buddy Guy and there's probably some I'm not remembering. Weve been there 5 times and loved them all!
Oh, another thing is the food there! It's not like regular fair food, it's New Orleans food and it's damn good!! Only bad thing is they were going away from cash last time we were there (5 years ago) so the lines were lots longer to buy anything at all. It's also outrageously hot most years. They do have a nice misting tent and several misting stations to cool down in and there are medical tents if one gets too burnt out and hot or has other medical needs. I used it one time when I had a head injury and was intolerant of the sun for that summer. Of course, one MUST wear a hat and sunglasses.

(2,980 posts)With Bonnie on acoustic slide and Lowell George on electric slide and written by the great Chris Smither, it's heaven.
Got to see Bonnie a few days ago, she is such a pro. What a great show!
