(70,599 posts)The version at Woodstock was, IMO, the best thing in the movie.
In the last Battle of the Bands we won, we picked She's Not There off the list of songs.
Because Santana had covered that song, we decided to end it like a Santana song. We picked the end of this song as inspiration.
The ending comes in at around 4:30. I think you'll hear the connection.

Nice looking Strat. Still got the same bass and drummer?

That wasn't our stuff. The contest was "picks & sticks".
Had to only use what they supplied. All we could bring was guitar picks & drumsticks. Very tight scheduling too. Take too long, get DQ'd. Had to pick 3 songs off their list. Any song nit on their list wasn't permitted.
That's not my bass, or his Strat or the drummer's kit. (Though he & i have 4 Strats between us.!)
This was a lark for us after winning the prior 2 year, when we decided to do it as a 3 piece thing with me on bass.
The first year, the guitar player's brother joined in on vocals, but our drummer couldn't do it, so we recruited a guy we'd known a long time to sit in. So, 4 piece with an extra singer.
The 2nd year, the brother joined in again, but it was the normal 4 of us. Again, we did not go by our actual name.
The year of this video, we changed the name again and did a trio.
We didn't go back after that as we felt we made our point (and a lot of cash, as we kept winning best on our instruments).
They still do this contest, but the rules aren't as rigid as they used to be. They have to be ar over 25 years by now. Was fun.

(70,599 posts)That's my golf cap.
I had the 1st round of a tournament that day. We actually requested a later time in the battle because I didn't know yet what my tee time would be. I have a pretty dark complexion (Sicilian ancestry) so I don't worry too much about burning this far north. I just forgot to take it off!
