1. Interesting. I had never heard of Christiaan Bruin. Google says "progressive rock" but this sounds more like

2. He is actually a drummer from the Netherlands.

He has been in several progressive bands from that part of the world: Mayra Orchestra, Sky Architect, Nine Stones Close. He has also had several solo projects (Inventions, for example) and several albums under the name "Chris." What makes the album this track is from very interesting to me is the orchestration and the use of non-electric instruments (lots of flutes, strings, oboes, etc., on the whole album.

He also did a 52-part concept piece called "The Black Codex," in which he produced one new track per week and brought it all together at the end. Lots of orchestra and percussion. It's a very long listen, but it is pretty cool.
