Trivia: Dorothy Dell and Shirley Temple became good friends while filming this movie. When Dell died in a car crash shortly after the movie was completed, Temple was shielded from the news for as long as possible.

Therefore, many of the versions of this film available on the market are either severely (and usually badly) edited and/or of extremely poor quality, having been duped from second- or third-generation (or more) copies of the film.

3:15 PM Rio Bravo (1959)
Rio Bravo is a 1959 American Western film directed and produced by Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Angie Dickinson, Walter Brennan, and Ward Bond. Written by Jules Furthman and Leigh Brackett, based on the short story "Rio Bravo" by B. H. McCampbell, the film stars Wayne as a Texan sheriff who arrests the brother of a powerful local rancher for murder and then has to hold the man in jail until a U.S. Marshal can arrive. With the help of a lame old man, a drunk, and a young gunfighter, they hold off the rancher's gang. Rio Bravo was filmed on location at Old Tucson Studios outside Tucson, Arizona, in Eastmancolor, with film processing provided by Technicolor.
In 2014, Rio Bravo was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
Dir: Howard Hawks Cast: John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson
Runtime: 141 mins Genre: Western Rating: TV-14 CC: Y
Trivia: Howard Hawks did not want to cast Ricky Nelson, whom he considered to be both too young and too lightweight, and deliberately gave him the fewest possible number of lines for a third-billed star. However, he later admitted that having Nelson's name on the poster had probably added $2 million to the film's box office performance.

A safe-cracker turns double agent during WWII.
Dir: Terence Young Cast: Christopher Plummer, Romy Schneider, Trevor Howard
Runtime: 126 mins Genre: Drama Rating: TV-PG CC: Y

8:00 PM The Fisher King (1991)
A former radio DJ, suicidally despondent because of a terrible mistake he made, finds redemption in helping a deranged homeless man who was an unwitting victim of that mistake.
Dir: Terry Gilliam Cast: Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams, Adam Bryant
Runtime: 137 mins Genre: Comedy Rating: TV-MA CC: Y
Oscar nominations:
ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE -- Robin Williams {"Parry"}
(*WINNER*) ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE -- Mercedes Ruehl {"Anne"}
ART DIRECTION -- Art Direction: Mel Bourne; Set Decoration: Cindy Carr
MUSIC (Original Score) -- George Fenton
WRITING (Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen) -- Richard LaGravenese
Trivia: Terry Gilliam had three rules in life when it came to filmmaking: 1) he'd never do anyone's script but his own, 2) he'd never work for a major studio, and 3) he'd never work in America. He violated all three of the rules to make this film.
10:30 PM Synecdoche, New York (2008)

Dir: Charlie Kaufman Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Samantha Morton, Michelle Williams
Runtime: 124 mins Genre: Drama Rating: TV-MA CC: Y
Trivia: Philip Seymour Hoffman's character's last name, Cotard, is a reference to the Cotard delusion or Cotard's syndrome, also known as nihilistic or negation delusion. It's a rare neuropsychiatric disorder in which a person believes that they are dead, do not exist, are decaying, or have lost their blood or internal organs.

Dir: Jean-Pierre Melville Cast: Lino Ventura, Paul Meurisse, Raymond Pellegrin
Runtime: 150 mins Genre: Adaptation Rating: TV-14 CC: N
Trivia: During the shooting of the scene in which Lino Ventura runs after the freight train that he tries to jump in, director Jean-Pierre Melville asked the train conductor to speed the train up, making it more difficult for Ventura to successfully make the jump, and Melville wanted to see the pain on his face as he tried harder to catch the train. When Ventura heard about this, long after the shooting, he was so angry about it that he had a huge row with Melville. The two never spoke again. They did make another film together, Army of Shadows (1969), but only spoke to each other through assistants.

Dir: Frank R. Pierson Cast: Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, Gary Busey
Runtime: 140 mins Genre: Musical Rating: TV-MA CC: Y
Oscar nominations:
CINEMATOGRAPHY -- Robert Surtees
MUSIC (Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Adaptation Score) -- Adaptation Score by Roger Kellaway
(*WINNER*) MUSIC (Original Song) -- "Evergreen (Love Theme From A Star Is Born)," Music by Barbra Streisand; Lyrics by Paul Williams
SOUND -- Robert Knudson, Dan Wallin, Robert Glass, Tom Overton
Trivia: Barbra Streisand wanted Elvis Presley for the part of John Norman Howard. She even went to Las Vegas to see Elvis after one of his performances in 1975, and talked to him directly. Elvis wanted to do it, but his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, was angry that Streisand hadn't come to him first. He told the producers that if they wanted Elvis, his name had to be at the top of the movie poster, above Streisand's. He also asked for a very large sum of money. Elvis hadn't been in a movie since 1969, and nobody knew what he could do at the box office.
