I'm going to spend a good deal of my time in my studio. Gonna close the door, immerse myself in painting, turn on some tunes, and tune out the world. I just can't process the results of the election. Can't believe there are that many idiots in this country. Actually, I can.

(35,159 posts)But yesterday I was so depressed my heart wasnt even it. I, also, have not been able yet to process the reality that is America now. Full of bigots, misogynists, and selfish people, who seem to make it their lifes mission to beat others down.

(121,473 posts)I was at a voice lesson yesterday and my teacher said, "We have to keep doing music and art more than ever now." And so I will. I've got a painting class coming up on Zoom in about an hour and it will be interesting to see how everyone else is coping. I was about to start a new oil painting, a landscape, but now I just want to paint something like Munch's The Scream. I don't know if I have the skill for something like that but it might make me feel better. Anyhow, we keep calm, carry on and do art.

Later, I was glad I had made a start forward. The only way out is through.
Looking forward to seeing more of your new work, buddy.

(1 post)Use energy from negatives to infuse art with an edge. Some of my best stuff over the years was the result of pain or anger. On reading Paul Eluard recently I found it inspiring to recognize the number of writers and artists in the French underground who became inspired to create & flourish despite Nazi occupation. One of my favorite poems by Eluard is Liberty. Check it out if you have a chance.
