Happy Thursday! Here's a watercolor pencil

and ink drawing I made in 2000, when I left my first husband. It's called 'The Burning of Esharhamat's Heart'.

I was reading 'The Assyrian' when I created this. It's really in essence a self portrait. I was really sad. There's negative space that I never quite filled up - an allegory I suppose. We have her hanging on our wall. A favorite of mine. She actually looks like me.

but it’s not really art deco.

i’m an “informal” art deco fan, but far far far from an art critic or student…so opinions on my opinion may vary!

It was just how I felt. I had an ad in a magazine I used as semi reference for her.
I, too, love art deco...there's a little bit of it here, in the design possibly, and a bit of a Rackham like feeling, but does convey the deep sadness I felt.

It doesn't matter if you're a critic or student - all art is subjective!

I can absolutely sense the emotion behind it and your rendering is just beautifully done. The negative space in your composition speaks volumes. You’re very talented!

Art is like journaling Life, in many different dimensions.

I'm so grateful for your words, my friend!

I'd love to see you try watercolor pencils. With your beautiful handwork, it would be amazing! I haven't had any for gosh, 5 or more years, and a sister called to ask my help with an art project, and we got to talking, and she sent me an amazing watercolor pencil and ink kit, along with two large watercolor pads, and a small sketchbook, and two tipped watercolor brush pens! As a surprise gift!!! Also to help her lol. So I've just started a piece to help her, and we just had the lighting redone in our house the past two days and now I can see in my studio! And the art on the walls!!! I'm so excited as we just finished getting it all done yesterday.
