(53,410 posts)Isnt it amazing how finding something you did a while back and forgot about can look so good? The way you rendered the rocks is amazing! I really like it and I must admit Im impressed with it. The shapes and texture are excellent and the colors and brush strokes add a feel of real substance and depth. You also did a terrific job on the water and the lighthouse. I love this painting! It has substance!

You know, the rocks were the hardest part for me. When I did the first layer, I was so discouraged, because I thought they were just going to look like blobs. A friend who is also an artist told me to try painting each rock individually and dont do them in a cluster, and I think that really helped. (as did a fine point paint pen in a few places). Im thrilled you think so much of my efforts!

I read once that athletes can improve their performances by imagining themselves excelling even when they aren't training. And I hope the same holds true for you: that by imagining yourself making art, you'll find that you aren't out of practice when you are able to pick up a brush or pencil again.

(40,196 posts)I do this often but especially when Im in the middle of a painting - I imagine in my head how Im going to render this or that at all odd hours of the day. My mother always used to tell everyone that her youngest daughters head was always up in the clouds. I guess I havent changed much!

I really, really like the composition, and the rendering of directional light!
So well done on the building, and rocks.
