Hot at the mall this week.

Not a Zippo lighter left in the store. Christmas, Christmas and more Christmas stuff, little red elfs. Pyrex bowls. Books. Records, LPs from the 60s and 70s.

Michigan and Ohio have been hit with show case break ins. Guy lifts the windows out from the bottom and slides the window out past the locks and grabs gold rings and coins. I hear the police are closing in on him.

Our collectible store business has been negatively impacted by street construction since late summer, but this election week has been slower than when we had our street completely blocked. Weather has been pretty good overall.

Is it possible that the election is freezing spending? Or are we just having a weird week?

I sell at a shop in Vermont and after the leaves fall and the leaf peepers leave, we starve until Thanksgiving when Christmas shopping starts and skiers arrive.

We only opened in May so we don't have the seasonality figured out yet. There seems to be a natural slowdown after Labor Day which just means we'll have to be doing more online to flatten things out.

I think part of what's happened here is that road construction caused everyone to avoid our neighborhood for months. They are just now starting to realize that it's completed.

Things are already picking up!
