Collecting etc. What is with all the poking. I dont get it. Whats poking got to do with collecting

(2,435 posts)Honestly the most I could ever guess, because the variety of named items has been so wonderfully diverse, I imagined it could be a coded message to non-DU-members, who can read it because the site is open to anyone reading. Like in spy movies!
Alas, as usual, the truth of the matter is far more mundane.

And the other assumption in my mind was that by saying "poke me" they were somehow getting around any DU rules.

(9 posts)I think "poking" is just a playful way of interacting with fellow collectors, not necessarily related to collecting itself. It's more about getting attention, starting a conversation, or having a bit of fun within the community.
