How can Ebay have so much fake antiquities on it?
Just search the category "Ancient Antiquities" and a ton of cheap stuff comes up. From what I've read, all the stuff from Egypt and Morocco is fake.

(8,722 posts)I used to trade used musical equipment up there. The last time I signed on, the "items based on your recent views" scroller on the main page was nothing but Chinese counterfeit guitars. You have to sift through pages of that garbage to find any genuine stuff for sale. The genuine stuff is sketchy too, with price gouging and fraudulent duplicated listings. They aren't even trying. Their heyday was the mid 2000's to mid 2010's and their best days seem to be behind them. I'm not a hater either, they had one hell of a good run.

(53,249 posts)when it comes to antiques. All antiquities are supposedly monitored on entry to the US. No one should even consider buying an antiquity via the internet.
