The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI took these pics while doing yardwork the other day.
I'm not a golfer, but my home borders a golf course.
These pics were taken from my front yard.
Big explosion, then a nasty fire that destroyed a golf cart.. These were taken when the fire first started. It got a lot worse than this. I'm glad the wind was blowing the other way. I would not want to be breathing whatever is in that smoke. The plume got huge.
I'm thinking it was due to thermal runaway from a battery. Two fire trucks came and put it out.
No injuries were reported.
Be careful out there.

(23,258 posts)I know that golf carts use either old style batteries, or lithium-ion.

(13,237 posts)We here in the South East are under severe draught conditions with Fire Danger at peak alert. We do not need exploding golf carts, or mowers.
Gotta say though, that image of an exploding Golf Cart, gave me a second of joy, and hope. How just would that be for so many deaths of innocent people under a particular famous golfer.
Supremacy Court Cant dismiss that outcome of long awaited Justice.
There is a lot of orange in the base of that fire

A welcome explosion indeed!

(34,955 posts)I'm terrified of fire. I'm in a prime fuel zone. Surrounded by mostly pine trees & wooden buildings. I've been out in the mornings running the hose for the birds and critters.
It's so dry here that I'm worried about two random sticks rubbing together spontaneously. Forget about a man-made explosion.
Thanks for the laugh. ❤️ 👋

(13,237 posts)And I would roll on the ground Belly laughing at that Breaking News Alert. And it is hard thinking who would I want playing with him that day. Graham loves to join him, but damn, he would need a stretch limo type golf cart to satisfy my need to laugh at that ending.

(34,955 posts)More of its leaves are on the ground than on the branches.
I was outside today refilling containers that I put around the yard for the poor critters and birds.
I have a wild rabbit family that lives underground by one of my trees. Deer that visit at night. And bad as I hate them, snakes & coyotes too. Possums and squirrels. I have a huge owl that lives close by and literally bats in one of the barn lofts. They all must be parched.
I even ran the hose under the deck for a while because I know that there are frogs and lizards, beautiful skinks, that live there. I feel so bad for them all.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words, blm.

(19,519 posts)We could all run to have roasted marshmallows with the firefighters before the flames died down and they tried to save trump from the burning embers.
