It stuck. Even all the Aunts, Uncles, Parents referred to them as such.

My paternal grandparents were meemaw and granddaddy.

My maternal grandmother was mamma vard. Her surname was Brevard, but my oldest cousin couldn't pronounce it, so Mamma Brevard became mamma vard.

The other grandparents died before I was born. We all called our grandmother “Ma”

My kids even call my dad Opa for some reason. He seems to prefer it.

Grandmother was Grandma. My Mom’s Dad died when she was 13 and Grandma never remarried. All Grandparents were Slovak.

I probably would have called my grandfather "Grandpa", but I'm not sure if I was talking yet when he died. My other grandfather died before I was born.

Grandma Watson, Grandma Sweeting was how I talked about them to differentiate.

I told my 1-1/2 year old this was his grandma and grandpa and my son interpreted that as Nonni and Poppi. My daughter just followed her older brother - so Nonni and Poppi they were.

My maternal grandparents were Mama and Gangy (my sister's way of saying "grandfather".)

My mother's parents were Nanny and Pop-Pop.

We called my grandmother Babka, my grandfather died before I was born

I only had one grandparent. The others had died long before I was born Two great-grandfathers died only 10 years before I was born.

My other grandparents all died young. My father's father was was 34 when he died of flu in the 1918 pandemic.

Paternal was Grandma Rose and Grandpa Tony.

Funny one is what my daughter called my husband's mom and dad. She called him, Buzzy and her, Grandma Buzzy. I don't remember why though.

We still have Gramma's beautiful silverware and china. My sister will sometimes use it on holiday dinners.

My parents were divorced when I was young and met my grandfather as an adult..cool guy and his wife was mee maw, a sweetheart..they remembered me as a baby..lots of family I never knew growing up. They’re all gone now but a couple of cousins

My Busia lived to be 96 and I was lucky enough to have her until I was almost 50!

My father's parents were known as Pop and Grandma Juicy (because she always had Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Gum in her purse... usually for the grandkids of course).

My mother's parents were known as Grandmother and Grandfather, although Grandfather died when I was like 2.

Every Christmas, we got the stuffy, English luncheon at my mother's parents, and then the down home country Christmas with my father's parents.

Didn't even meet Grandpapa until just a few weeks before he died, at his request; long story short, he and my dad had a falling out when dad decided to join the military and Grandpapa refused to speak to him ever again. My uncle took us to see him.
My mom's parents died years before I was born.

"Grandpa" and "Grandma". They use to visit Texas in the winter months after they retired. As an adult, I wrote them letters and addressed the envelope as Grandpa and Grandma with their surname. They liked that and it would make them smile.


My paternal grandparents were a gazillion years old when I was born. I think I was 3 when my grandfather died and 5 when my grandmother died. I don't remember what either one of them looked like and I'm not close to anyone on that side of the family.
