At the end of the day integrity is all you have

Old woman here approaching 76 . I once quit a job because I was asked to cut employee hours from full time to part time so company could take away their health insurance. My husband of 17 years left me because I " wasn't pulling my weight " not immediately but shortly after. Worked hard , found5 better job , remarried wonderful man.
Life happen mostly good but one of the things I am proud of is walking out of that meeting and saying "No, you will do what you are going to do but I do not have to be part of it.".

And you are right. Sometimes it's all we have, but it is fulfilling and valuable in ways those who lack it can never know.
