Over 100 miles long containing villages and many farms!

I have wondered how large they get. It must be a truly unique atmosphere on every level. I wonder how the deserts on that continent will fare as things heat up. I have noticed an uptick in rainfall over the Sahara the last few years.

But droughts have stressed the farming of dates and olives. This past fall and early winter, record rainfall caused major flooding after an eleven year drought. Hopefully, some benefit to the oasis will help the farmers.

Oases are part of the natural wealth of Morocco. With an area of 77,000 km2, the region of Tafilalet, in the south of the country, is home to the largest oasis in the world.

This group of oases, located in the lower valleys of the wadis Ziz and Ghéris, is spread over the cities of Erfoud and Rissani.

This oasis lost in the desert is crossed by the wadi Ziz and is spread over twenty or so communes in the region spread over the towns of Rissani and Erfoud. We let you discover in a few pictures these green islets of Tafilalet covering, as far as the eye can see, the valleys of the wadis Ghéris and Ziz.
