It reminds me of the craziest part-time job I ever had in college.
Someone called the English department and said they needed an editorial assistant. They asked if anyone could be recommended. My department recommended me so I went to see this woman.
She had a fabulous luxury apartment in a wealthy section of the city. Her name was Geraldine and she was a romance author. Yes, in other words, she wrote the kinds of books that those covers encased.
She wanted a proofreader and someone who would routinely keep her manuscripts sent to publishers. She offered me the job and I took it. There was a bookcase in her office and it had dozens and dozens of these books that she had published, all with covers featuring the dashing guy who had compelling eyes.
Some of the original art for these covers was framed and hanging around the office. Consequently, I was always looking at this kind of guy.
Imagine trying to work with that looking at you all the time!
