Did you ever notice that in all the cartoons we loved as kids, ALL the main characters were male? There was Cindy (Yogi Bear’s girlfriend), Granny in the Tweety Bird cartoons, etc. Every female was a wife, girlfriend or mother of the main characters. Pisses me off to this day.

in 1969, but maybe Scooby and Shaggy were more prominent in the show than they were. I think you had to wait for until Josie and the Pussycats for truly female leads.

Mighty Mouse was another. When I was growing up in the late fifties, our local movie house showed Saturday cartoons for a few hours after noontime, had to get all the chores done first.

Sort of James Bond as a kid. His father’s side, Race Bannon, was a cool side kick.

I was always a Warner Bros. cartoon lover first and foremost, although I loved Rocky and Bullwinkle, too.

“Ah say, ah say, that kid’s about as sharp as a bowling ball …”. Bugs Bunny opera, Elmer Fudd singing “Kill The Wabbit”…..Chip and Dale planting their vegetable garden…..Fractured Fairy Tales…..
Just a few I remember off the top of my head that I enjoyed.
