(909 posts)Peter Sellers on patrol, in front of the bank. He tells the blind man playing the accordian that he needs a licaaaance. He then steps in the monkey's crap. The bank gets robbed under his nose, while the robbers drop a bundle of cash, he picks it up and gives it back to them in their getaway car, then tackles the bank manager who was gonna shoot at them. It starts out with him on patrol, smiling at a pretty girl and she spits in his eye.

I have the DVD of all the Mel Brooks movies. He is a great writer/director! And if I'm channel surfing and see it on it draws me back in to watch!

(1,121 posts)Another funny scene from the movie is a scene where the camera is looking from outside as the characters dine. As the camera comes closer to the closed glass paneled door you can hear a mummer of conversation. The camera keeps getting closer to the point it breaks a pane of glass and the characters stop talking and turn to look at the camera as the camera slowly backs out like a person who made a mistake.

(3,329 posts)Scene is that Authur and his crew are trying to cross a bridge. There is a gate keeper who asks "What is air speed of a swallow?" When they say "I don't know" the answer triggers something that makes them fly off somewhere and disappear. When the gate keeper asks the question of Authur, his response is "African or European?" The gate keeper pauses, looks puzzled, then says the fatal words, "I don't know". Goodbye, gate keeper! 🤣

(5,692 posts)Gas station scene, Oil cans being shot by crazy guy and Steve says, "stay away from these cans, he hates these cans". Also the scene where he is depressed and leaving his fancy house while picking up one odd item after another (ping pong paddle, chair, etc) and saying I don't need anything except this paddle, I need this and so on...very funny to me...

(18,427 posts)... that there are 10 million Reichsmarks worth of gold in the bank he's guarding. Karl-Otto Alberty does just a magnificent silent take, his eyes getting rounder and rounder before he wheels around and orders his tank crew to blow a hole in the wall. Just cracks me up every time.
