we got more snow overnight. My snow shovel broke the other day. I used a sponge mop to sweep off my steps. That worked a little better than a broom, and when I got the snow cleared, I added a little more salt.
I wanted to feed the birds. The spot I was using for ground feeders was snow covered. I had a push broom in the basement, and it worked to get most of the new snow off the seeds that were still there. I used a rake to clear the picnic table. All in all, the birds and squirrels are in good shape for the rest of today, and maybe tomorrow.
It is going to be cold almost all week, so not much of the snow will melt. My car is stuck in snow, so I won't be going anywhere for a few more days. Fine by me!

I have bird seed and a good bird feeder, the kind that whirls off the squirrels, but I had to remove it because it was attracting rodents.
Did you get the car stuck in the snow or is it just stuck there by all the snow?

(19,581 posts)I park beside the house, and it's mostly grassy, usually not a problem. Last week, after the 8" of snow that fell, I moved the car further down so I could use the clear space under it to feed the birds. I know it would be stuck, but didn't know the snow would be on the ground this long. But I'm good on supplies and distractions
I couldn't find the bottom part of my feeder to complete the bird feeding task.
I cleaned out part of my shed and still couldn't find it.
Tomorrow I'll clean out the rest and will probably find it. I know I wouldn't have separated the two parts.
Meanwhile, I put out some birdfeed on a plate on the terrace, but I'll have to remember to bring it back in when it starts getting dark. I don't know if the birds will spot it, but I think they will since they like to perch on the fence above the terrace.
