Many years ago my cat Tommy, who has since passed on, managed to get a livingroom drape twisted around his midsection. I was alerted when I heard a blood-curdling wail from him and ran downstairs. He was just hanging there and I grabbed him and tried to untwist the fabric but it was too tight. Desperate, I decided to let him hang for just a bit longer so I could run to the kitchen for scissors and I cut though the twisted drape, freeing him at last. He was ok and a vet check the next day found no damage. What I'll never understand is after cutting through the fabric and untwisting it, my cut was just a vertical slit halfway up the drape. I expected it to be cut in two pieces. Tommy lived another 11 years afterward.
