You can tell each knit stitch apart from its neighbors easily. A knit is almost as good as graph paper.

The hard part is getting the dimensions right because each stitch is a little wider than it is tall. Not so you'd notice it looking at a piece of plain knitting, but enough to squash an image if you just go with one stitch = 1 square on the graph paper.

I was not expecting this when I read that your daughter did it. I still picture a little girl no matter how many times I have read about her. I love this, she is very good!

It says "Fra-jeel-ay".
I caught the scene today where he gets the delivery. I never noticed that Malinda Dillon's character corrects him with "I think it says fragile." I always thought she just ignored it.

Ralphie's house looks a lot like the house I grew up in in upstate New York. And his father was a lot like mine.
Wonderful memories that I cherish each time i see this Christmas Classic.

So, I was walking last night after Christmas dinner (gotta get the bowels moving after all that heavy food I'm not used to eating). My usual route, about 1 mile...anyway, I'm waking past a older 2 story, 4 unit building (great Spanish architecture btw) admiring the holiday lights. My eyes travel up to one of the 2nd story windows and what do I see in the window? That exact lamp! Wonder if they got it from the 2nd hand shop not far away. I had seen one of those lamps there recently....anyway, its a great kitschy piece.

Have fun with that sweater!
