(127 posts)Why do they make that mix with lima beans? The lima beans aren't cooked enough.
A favorite recipe of my husband and I is Mama and Baby lima beans in a crockpot, add celery, bean sprouts, green onions, green pepper and a little bit of ham. I now add shredded lettuce at the bottom of the bowl. Yum!

(162,650 posts)I have always hated them, too, but this information makes the idea sound interesting, possibly! Something to think about, for sure!

(24,482 posts)five or six different cans of veggies, look and see what leftovers I have in the fridge, and viola! I have a nice soup, either in the crock pot or on the stove cooking away. If I had a meat of some sort, I'd put some of it in there too.
I am sorry that I got offtrack, when I saw your ? about veggies (which one to pull?), my mind just locked up and the soup portion of my brain kicked in! Ha ha heh.

(9,972 posts)I'm going to mention that the only side vegetables that I eat are broccoli, cauliflower and green beans.
I only eat green beans if they're fresh and made Italian style... simmered in extra virgin olive oil, lightly salted with minced garlic. I've also made them in the air fryer like this as well. I won't eat green bean casserole because it's generally been contaminated with gluten with the Cream of Mushroom soup and generally contaminated with some sort of breading.
I have a gluten sensitivity that wrecks havoc on my body so I have to watch out for this type of thing all the time.
I don't like peas and I'm like a child and pick those out nasty things out of whatever I'm eating if someone threw them in. These are definitely in my "Yuck" category.
I'm not a big fan of carrots either but if they've been cooked and are soft and tender I might consume a few of them.
I don't eat corn, beans in general or potatoes mainly because of the carb counts. Once in awhile, I might indulge in a dish of homemade mashed potatoes or homemade chili. I love chili!

(18,052 posts)As a child I refused to eat them and was physically forced to eat them. In hindsight getting into the mind of my dad who has since passed was that money was tight, and I was unwilling to consume a cheap source of protein. Still love my dad but it was abuse.
Now I don't have problems eating them (except for being somewhat keto non-compliant), but I can't get the memory out of my mind.
I would drop corn now because of the keto implications.
