Tonight, the North Pole will be tilted directly away from the sun, and the sun will be -23.44° below the Equator, making the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. This is when primitive people celebrated that the sun would now turn around and head north again. I heartily agree!

Living north of the 45th parallel makes this quite noticeable. Glad to have made it to this point and seeing longer days again.
